Dial up connections become corrupted for what ever reasons, we'll just say it is a Microsoft thing and move on. 

  

 

Trouble shooting your dial up connection

FIRST:

  • Make sure you are using the correct username and password. (Re-type in even if info was saved at onetime.)

  • Make sure you are using all lowercase lettering when typing in your username and password.

1. Double-click on My Computer and then on Dial -Up Networking and make sure that along with a MAKE NEW CONNECTION icon you also see an icon that represents your ISP Connection. (spinn.net)

[DialNet.gif ]A. If there are other icons besides the two mentioned I would suggest deleting those icons by right clicking on them and left clicking on delete.

2. Right click on the Spinn.Net icon and left click on properties and make sure that the phone number to be dialed is the correct one. (3382150) And also check to see if there is a modem selected.

A. Select the SERVER TYPE tab and make sure that the only checks are on Enable Software Connection and TCP/IP.

B. Then select the TCP/IP Settings button and make sure that the IP address and the Name Server Addresses are set to Server Assigned. And in that same window make sure that the bottom two selections are checked as well.

3. Double click on My Computer and then double click on Control Panel. In Control Panel double click on Internet Options or Internet. There are different versions of this particular window but the information displayed is the same.

A. Select the Connections tab and make sure that you are Connecting Using A Modem. And make sure that the default Dial Up is set for Spinn.Net.

B. Also in this window usually under settings make sure that you username and password are correct and in lowercase lettering.

4. Double click on NETWORK in the CONTROL PANEL and make sure you see Dial Up Adapter and TCP/IP. If you have an AOL adapter and you do not use, highlight that adapter and Click Remove.    Get instructions for removing AOL from your system.  Creating a new dialup.
